Will this WASL development instigate parents to rise up?

Washington parents complain about the WASL personal student survey. OSPI pulls it. It's a small victory, but illuminates the immense pressure the OSPI is under.

Ironically, the survey appears to be similar to the one that was part of the Iowa Basic Skills standardized test for years. I'll take any victory on the WASL front, though, and celebrate. Yay parents for speaking up for your kids!!!! Let's take the next step and rally to mothball the WASL. Join the voices that have been advocating for years to ashcan this asinine test.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if all parents who are fed up with the WASl and the current state of the wasl-driven educational system actually did rise up? Oh, to dream the impossible dream...

Yet, more and more the voices of MAW members are being heard (despite OSPI's desire to silence us). Keep on crying out for quality education! The dream CAN come true!

Welcome bertadoll. I agree it would be amazing and fantastic if all the parents who are fed up with the WASL and its curriculum spawn would speak up loud and clear.

It's been a long haul, but the work of MAW, and other advocates, is paying off. Give yourself a pat on the back!
